West Street,

St. Monans

A compact and fascinating refurbishment of a C-listed traditional fishermans’ cottage in the charming village of St. Monans, in the East NEuk of Fife.

Designs for the refurbishment included insulating and draughtproofing the cottage with natural, breathable materials (very important in traditional buildings!) and re-configuration of the layout to place two bedrooms downstairs and an open plan sitting room-cum-dining room upstairs.

Part of the upstairs ceiling will be removed to create a cathedral ceiling and allow the low-angle winter sun into the house through new rooflights.
