Working closely with Gaia Research, Straw Works, and Renaissance, this contemporary, single storey strawbale house has been designed for a young family, one of whom is a full-time wheelchair user.

The new house replaces a cramped 1970s bungalow and takes full advantage of the beautiful wooded setting, solar exposure and sense of privacy that the relatively narrow plot width helps create.

Careful sizing and placing of windows and rooflights, together with a highly-insulated and draught-proof envelope, and a simple ventilation system will help to ensure the house will be energy efficient and comfortable for the occupants.

The house was completed and occupied in 2018.
