Community Feasibility Study for

former Lochmaddy Hospital,

North Uist

Working as part of a team led by Urban Animation and including Athena Solutions, this feasibility study explored the opportunities for a former Poor House and hospital on the edge of Lochmaddy to be reconfigured and refurbished to provide accommodation for the increasing number of students and visitors coming to the island to explore its music and Gaelic cultural heritage.

Through a series of community consultations a number of additional uses were identified for the site, including workshops for community use, small accommodation pods for artists and visitors, supported housing and affordable housing.
